Coralee Popp

“I am grateful for the years of formal training at Pacific NW College of Art and Studio Art Centers International which culminated in my BFA. I am equally grateful for a deep desire to question my decisions in life and in the studio, and then to take responsibility for them.

Count me among the painters who, following the impulses of their eyes, find a painting in the act of its own making. My understanding of works which thrill me is that they do it first by grabbing my eyes, but at the same time offer windows into that other world of the credible imagination. This isn’t a process in which you’ll find the seven steps to connubial bliss, with exercises to simultaneously tighten your buttocks and open your third eye. But it is an invaluable opportunity to learn about ourselves and each other. Art is not food… but art feeds me.”
