Opening Reception Friday October 1, 5:30-7pm

Jeanie Smith’s new work showing the month of October in her solo show SYNERGY, is an education in contempory abstract art. Using color and forms to create images without intent brings a fresh interpretation to the word, synergy. By using multiple ways to present and play with form, the idea of many parts working together to make a better whole is readily apparent to the observer.
At the reception, Smith will give an artist talk about the process and what motivates her to create acrylic paintings from insight based on years of her own art perspective. The talk begins at 5:45 pm. See more of her work on her website.
“Now I am exploring less detail in my work, a monumental change in the way I painted previously. More emphasis is put on the flexibility of color, pushing every boundary. Mostly, I enjoy how forms relate to each other, some floating, some in front or behind, mutating and pulsing. Each piece is created with great joy, without expectation, flowing from one canvas to the next.”
Featured in a number of exhibits, group and solo shows, Smith was presented with the Patricia Burman “Most Original Painting Award” at the Palm Springs Art Museum in 2004. She has been awarded several Best of Show recognitions. An artist and poet, she resides in Warm Springs and Portland, Oregon with her husband, Ken Smith and their silky terrier, Benni.
